Glock 45 – 9mm (17+1 Rounds)
The Glock 45 is a 9mm crossover design that merges the best elements of the Glock 17 and Glock 19. You get the full-size grip and 17+1 round magazine capacity of a G17, paired with the shorter G19-length slide for a faster, more compact handling package. Originally influenced by law-enforcement requirements, it has become a popular choice for shooters who want a do-everything 9mm.
As a Gen 5 model, the Glock 45 includes all the latest Glock enhancements: the Glock Marksman Barrel for improved accuracy, an ambidextrous slide stop lever, and a lightly flared magwell that helps speed up reloads. The frame has no finger grooves and uses interchangeable backstraps, allowing you to adjust the grip to your hand size and shooting style.
The shorter slide and barrel give the Glock 45 a slightly faster “return to target” feel compared to a full-length G17, while the full-size grip ensures a solid, controllable hold even for shooters with larger hands. The pistol uses standard double-stack 17-round magazines, so spares and accessories are widely compatible with other full-size 9mm Glocks.
Front and rear slide serrations provide good traction for press-checks and manipulations, and the nDLC finish on the slide and barrel offers excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. An accessory rail on the dust cover allows for mounting a weapon light or laser, making the Glock 45 well-suited to duty, home-defence and low-light applications.
For South African shooters who want one 9mm that can comfortably cover duty, defensive, range and even competition roles, the Glock 45’s capacity, ergonomics and Gen 5 upgrades make it a very compelling choice.
